School is back in session

Sorry it has taken me so long to post. School is back in session and I also started a new job at the hospital. I am working in a progressive care unit, plus still have my two research jobs as well. Needless to say, things have been very busy for me. I will continue to post as time permits. Hope everyone is doing well.

Nursing – Infection Control Diagrams

Attached you will find a PowerPoint containing diagrams on infection control. I created them for a first year nursing class. As always, feel free to use or edit them to fit your needs. Also, if you find them useful, please click on my sponsor’s links.

Here are a couple of  screen captures from the PowerPoint .  The first one highlights basic needs for pathogen survival. This is important to consider because if you can alter any of these basic needs, the pathogen will not be able to survive.  The second diagram highlights how older adults are more at risk for infection.

There are 11 slides in total on the PowerPoint.  Each of them highlights a different aspect of infection control.

Free Anatomy & Physiology Worksheets – MAJOR ARTERIES & VEINS

Here is another free Anatomy and Physiology worksheet. This one covers major arteries and veins in the human body. The photo is of one of the models we have in the lab. You will see a screen capture from the study guide below. During our exam for anatomy, we had to label the model similar to what you see in the study guide. If you are able to quickly and easily label the following structures, it was an easy A for the lab component of Anatomy.

Free Anatomy & Physiology Worksheets – CRANIAL NERVES

Attached you will find a worksheet I created outlining the Cranial Nerves. The great thing about this worksheet is I was able to get photos of actual skulls and identified the openings for each of the nerves (see photo). In our final lab exam, we had to identify the cranial nerves this way.
These photos were extremely helpful in helping me study and memorize the location for each of the cranial nerves. On the worksheet, I showed where the cranial nerves are on one page, and then created a worksheet where you had to fill in the cranial nerves on your own. If you have any study materials you think others would appreciate, please forward them to me so I can share with everyone.

Are you applying to Nursing School and need to get an “A” in Anatomy or Physiology? I was in the same situation last year and created a number of study guides and worksheets to assist me with both classes. At IUPUI, Anatomy is a 5 hour class that includes a lab. Physiology is a separate 5 hour class that includes a lab. Due to the competitive nature of admission into the Nursing program, it was important for me to earn as high a grade as possible in both courses.

I created several study guides for the Anatomy class I took as a prerequisite for Nursing School. The next several posts will contain some of these study guides.  As a visual learner, I found these study guides extremely helpful. All of the study guides and worksheets can be found on the ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY study resource page (click link). FREE ANATOMY WORKSHEETS & STUDY GUIDES.
